Our Pastors
Peter and Kari Carrera are launching Verdant City Church in East Boise in January 2027. After years of prayer and preparation, they are stepping out with bold vision and great expectation for all that God has in store for the region. Peter comes from a rich legacy of missionaries, while Kari carries a heritage of church planting. Together, they bring over 40 years of ministry experience as Worship Pastor, Youth Pastor, Young Adult Pastors, Small Group Leaders/Coaches, Intern Directors, and have faithfully served at Harvest Church in Meridian for the past 25 years.
Their passion is to see people deeply discipled, rooted in authentic community, and alive in Spirit-led worship and evangelism. Peter and Kari are equally committed to strengthening families and helping individuals thrive in every season—fully alive, fully equipped, and fully engaged in the mission of God’s Kingdom.

What does "Verdant" Mean?
Verdant means lush, flourishing, and full of life.
That’s the heartbeat of our church. We believe God’s desire isn’t just for people to get by—but to be fully alive in Him. Rooted in Jesus, growing in faith, and flourishing in every area of life.
As a church in Boise—the City of Trees—the imagery of Psalm 1 shapes who we are. Like a tree planted by streams of water, we want to be a people deeply rooted in God’s presence, consistently growing, and bearing fruit that impacts the world around us.
Verdant isn’t just a name—it’s a picture of the life God invites us into.
